A strong appeal packet is built from source documents, not vibes. Gather these items before submitting the request form so the packet can separate value evidence, uniformity evidence, exemptions, and condition evidence cleanly.

The faster the evidence is organized, the faster the appeal story gets sharp.
Start with the county's own records, then add market comps and condition documentation. If a document is missing, note that in the request form so the packet can call it out as a follow-up.
Value evidence
- Recent nearby sales that look similar to your home
- Superior homes assessed lower than yours
- Photos or notes showing why a county comp is not truly comparable
- Recent appraisal or listing history if available
Condition evidence
- Repair invoices and contractor estimates
- Photos of damage, deferred maintenance, leaks, cracks, windows, roof, crawlspace, siding, flooring, kitchens, and baths
- Insurance denial letters or claim notes when relevant
- Plain-English timeline of what happened and what remains unrepaired
Deadline and filing proof
