County guide
How to appeal a Fulton County, Georgia property tax assessment.
Fulton County homeowners can appeal when the assessment does not represent fair market value. The appeal must be filed within 45 days of the Notice of Assessment date.
Do not wait for the tax bill: Fulton notes that the appeal deadline is printed on the notice, and missing it means losing the right to file for that assessment year.
Filing routes
Fulton says appeals can be filed online at FultonAssessor.org, in person, or by mail. When filing, homeowners choose an appeal path such as Board of Equalization, non-binding arbitration, or hearing officer where applicable.
What to build before filing
- A copy of the Annual Notice of Assessment.
- Comparable sales and lower-assessed similar properties.
- Evidence of incorrect property characteristics.
- Condition evidence such as deferred repairs, water damage, or major estimates.
